The SuperReel M-Series is TTi’s mechanical-drive twin reel spray unit, built to sit on a ute or a trailer. A Honda GX270 runs the Bertolini pump and the chain-driven reels. The pump is rated at 54 litres a minute and 580 psi. At the gun, the HawkLine remote starts and stops the engine, rewinds either reel, and opens the valve.
Ongmac Lismore is a TTi authorised dealer for the range. The sizes are a short 400 L, a 600 L, a short 600 L, and pin-mount 800 L, 1,000 L and 1,200 L. Hose length is a choice. TTi’s 600 L spec sheet lists 100, 150, 200 or 250 metres of anti-kink nylon on each reel. The dealer tile in this pack shows a 150 m reel. Tim Thompson’s unit runs 250 m a side.
The mechanical rewind
The reels are chain-driven off the Honda, so rewind is not a hand crank. TTi rates that rewind to haul hose back uphill and through scrub, and a hose guide lets you rewind from any direction. Two Turbo400 guns can work at once, each with a swivel and a short whip hose.
HawkLine is IP67, and TTi rates it to 2 km. A flush circuit isolates the mix in the tank and draws fresh water through the pump and lines. The suction filter has an auto shut-off, so cleaning the filter does not empty the tank.
What the operators say
2K Pasture Management run one of these hard. On their video they talk about 2,400 to 3,000 litres a day, five days a week, and up to 5,000 litres on a long day. They have broken hoses, shafts, fittings and circuit boards on other sprayers. They say the TTi remote has not dropped out once, including in steep, timbered gullies where their other units were losing signal around 100 metres. The pump, the valve and the engine are easy to reach, and they say that has cut downtime in half in most places. The line they open with is “We put this unit through hell.”
Tim Thompson runs 250 metres on each reel so the ute stays put and the hose reaches country the vehicle cannot. Rewind is on the remote. On the unit he walks through, the filter and a fill point sit at ground level, and an oil-drain hose keeps an oil change out from under the motor.
Tank, hose and frame
The tank is UV-stabilised polyethylene with a 450 mm lid, a sight tube and a sump that drains out. TTi’s spec sheet lists a 25-year tank warranty, 5 years on the frame and 3 years on the Honda. The frame is galvanised, forkable from any side, with tie-down points and pre-drilled bolt holes. Plumbing is hydraulic-crimped. A 600 L unit on that sheet measures 2,000 x 1,250 x 990 mm. The other sizes differ, so ask for the sheet that matches the tank.
